Located in the Bay of Bengal, the Andaman (along with Nicobar) Islands are a cluster of almost 600 isles. They are geographically closer to Myanmar and Indonesia and politically connected to India. These islands were the scene of dozens of aftershocks as they were located just north of the earthquake’s epicentre that struck in 2004. The ensuing tsunami severely damaged the Nicobar Islands while sparing the Andaman Islands with just minor injuries.
The Andaman Islands is the tourist’s favourite destination due to the vast scenic and natural wonder that it has to offer. Port Blair is the capital that connects to other islands via ferry. You can visit other islands such as Little Andaman, Havelock, and Neil Island. Get a tour of the historic cellular jail, or get to Corbyn’s Cove beach, or better still, tour the Samudrika Marine Museum.
